Amish chairs compete with help of AI
Brian Roemmele: One Amish family just secured 1.000 outdoor chairs handmade of wood to replace an order from overseas, they had to come down on price just slightly but made the largest sale in their 130 years of family business. The retailer is a large US company. Bye plastic…
If Brian Roemmele can bring AI to the Amish, I should be able to bring it to oldish wealthy Ljusdal, Sweden or here in Linköping to anyone looking to produce something that the market wants but can’t get.
As the rest of the world doesn’t get tariffs for 90 days, you have new opportunities if can export a product to USA in a market dominated by China or to China with products replacing US products. Chinese and US goods might also be on sale for a short term in the rest of the world.
I think the big companies are aware of their competitors, but it used to be very hard for a smaller producer to know these things. But now you can just ask a few AIs and you’ll get valuable tips. If you just think of asking.
Risk assets surge as Trump cuts reciprocal tariffs to 10% for nations that asked for talks - Newsquawk Europe Market Open
Trump lifted the tariff on China to 125% with immediate effect, announced a 90-day pause & cut reciprocals to 10% for nations that asked for talks.
This is smart! It is just 2D chess, but USA pushing hard all across the line, and saying: “Nah, we only care about the one who fought back!” - That is a lesson in bullying.
Treasury Secretary Bessent just revealed that President Trump laid a trap and China fell into it.
Rare Earths, Rare Leverage. ⚙️
Beijing 🇨🇳 has quietly activated its most strategic asset—threatening to cripple the West’s EVs 🚗⚡, advanced weaponry 🚀, and critical industries.
This isn’t just trade tension—it’s precision economic warfare ⚔️, engineered with silent dominance. 4 minutes video.
Great explanation. It is China's processing of the pretty common rare earths that is that state's power. But: Geopolitics can not be seen as the struggle between states, but it's a struggle between groups that use the states as one of their tools to strike the other side. Almost all big corp in USA are more against Trump than "China" and also more hurt by the tariffs. Trump is killing local opposition's income as I have explained the last days.
Another note is that Americans don’t need most of the things they buy from China. The rare earths and chips for the industry are the most important, but China’s toys, clothes and the newest iPhone can they live without. The toys will be less plastic, though:

Israeli reservists against Netanyahu
970 Israeli Air Force reservists have called for an end to the war on Gaza in exchange for the return of all Israeli captives, stating that the war is being driven by personal political interests (a reference to Netanyahu). They published their names in a public statement, and the military has threatened to dismiss them if they don’t back down—despite the ongoing shortage of trained personnel and the long training time required to replace them.
An Israeli thread explains that the war is Gaza was only because they wanted to destroy and murder, and had nothing to do with hostages or October 7

A 132 year old bottle message inspires workers
A 132-year-old message in a bottle was recently discovered in the wall of Corsewall Lighthouse in Scotland. Engineers, who were working on repairs at the lighthouse, unearthed the glass bottle, which contained a note dated September 4, 1892.
The note was written by the workers who had installed a new lens and lantern at the lighthouse. The message listed the names of the engineers, millwrights, and laborers involved in the project, and was sealed inside the bottle and placed in the wall after the work was completed. For over a century, the bottle remained hidden until recent repairs uncovered it.
To the engineers who found it, the note was particularly striking-it described the same lens they were working on, making it feel like a message from the past directly addressing the present. Here is part of the note: "This lantern was erected by James Wells, Engineer, John Westwood, Millwright, James Brodie, Engineer, David Scott, Labourer ... and relighted on Thursday night 15th Sept. 1892."
