Turns out in 1968 the government actually did a randomized control trial on 9500 people testing if saturated fat really caused heart disease... And when they found out what happened the results were buried. The hospital randomized people into two groups and replaced butter & saturated fats with corn oil. They found that for every 30mg/dL drop in cholesterol, there was a 22% HIGHER risk of death. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats INCREASED risk of death, despite cholesterol going down. This study was buried for years and only uncovered recently.
