Putin Again Replaces Commander Overseeing Russian Forces In Ukraine

It was only three months ago that the Kremlin named General Sergei Surovikin to head up Russia's "special military operation" in Ukraine, which President Putin has since admitted is in fact a "war". 

He's already been sacked, as on Wednesday the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced that Valery Gerasimov, who is head of the general staff of the Russian Armed Forces, is taking over the reigns of the operation.

It looks that Russia wants to look more unpredictable as any Sun Tsu would advice after that I correctly predicted that Surovikin will just continue with the slow grinding, but now he is out. If Russia actually plans a strategy change is unknowable, but the military command succeeded in spreading the idea that this is a possibility which will make the defence of Ukraine harder.

Putin byter återigen ut den befälhavare som övervakar de ryska styrkorna i Ukraina

För bara tre månader sedan utsåg Kreml general Sergej Surovikin till chef för Rysslands "särskilda militära operation" i Ukraina, som president Putin sedan dess har erkänt är ett "krig". 

Han har redan fått sparken, eftersom det ryska försvarsministeriet i onsdags meddelade att Valerij Gerasimov, som är chef för generalstaben i de ryska väpnade styrkorna, tar över ledningen av operationen.

Det ser ut som om Ryssland vill se mer oförutsägbart ut, vilket alla Sun Tsu skulle råda till efter att jag förutspådde att Surovikin bara skulle fortsätta med den långsamma nermalningen, men nu är han ute ur bilden. Om Ryssland faktiskt planerar en strategiförändring vet man inte, men militärledningen lyckades sprida idén om att detta är en möjlighet vilket kommer att göra försvaret av Ukraina svårare.
